EMBELLISHMENTS

It’s all in the details…
The little touches count when it comes to gift giving and what your gift looks like creates an instant impression - if done right it can be almost as exciting and beautiful as what’s inside…

  1. Gift tags - add a personal touch to the outside of your gift with a handwritten note. They can be easily made from recycled old greeting cards, plain white luggage labels can be decorated with a stamp or wasabi tape or use the off-cuts of your wrapping paper to create a coordinated look. You can even play around with the shape of your tags for something a little different – long and thin always looks elegant
  2. Bows galore - ribbon comes in so many shapes and sizes – it can really change the look of your gift. Thin curling ribbon can often look a little disappointing so perhaps opt for silk ribbon, tied in a basic bow and finished with angled edges for an understated but classy feel. Wire-edged ribbon can transform your gift into something quite extraordinary and helps create lavish bows. The wire allows you to shape the bow and helps maintain its shape. Satin ribbon is classic and always looks beautiful but it is slippery to work with and creates a simpler finish
  3. Embellishments – the options truly are endless and it’s a great opportunity to add contrasting colours and textures to your wrapping. A few ideas include giving a hint to what’s inside…for stationary or notebooks think about adding a couple of striking-looking pencils to the outside of your gift, you could use a book mark to decorate the gift of a hardback. Consider the season; using foliage such as holly at Christmas creates a truly festive offering and a mini poesy of wild flowers in the spring would bring extra joy. Other items that you can add include beads or pompoms, just look around at what you have available and be creative!
